Sadler’s Release Update:

Sadler’s Release Update: Elliott Sadler was on PRN’s The Pitreporters Wednesday afternoon and had this to say: In an effort to speed-up the release from his contract with the Wood Brothers, Elliott Sadler has offered to forfeit his half of the earnings for the rest of the year if they can come to an agreement by Friday. “That’s how eager I am to get my release so I can get it behind me so we can race” said Sadler. He says it’s hard being at the track wondering if it’s going to happen and when it’s going to happen, and wants to get it done so when they show up at the racetrack they’re ready to race 100-percent. Sadler says he’s real, real close to getting it done, however.added that it’s been a touchy subject for the Wood Brothers and Motorcraft because the sponsor (Motorcraft) needs to approve his replacement.” If he obtains his release by this weekend, Sadler thinks an announcement could be made in the next few weeks as to his future driving plans. The 27-year old Virginia native said “I’m talking with 2 or 3 different teams and I’m really pretty close with all of them.. I’ve kind of narrowed it down…and we’ll see what happens.AND Kevin Harvick thought Elliott Sadler was mad at him during The Winston when Sadler threw his helmet and hit Ryan Newman’s car after Sadler was wrecked during NASCAR’s All-Star race. In the trailer after the race, Harvick asked Sadler if he was throwing at him. Sadler said…”No sir, I hit my target! We kinda laughed about that.” Sadler said because Newman was on the outside of Harvick it.made it.a hard throw.(PRN’s Garagepass Radio Show/Pit Reporters)(5-23-2002) UPDATE: In response to Elliott Sadler’s offer that he would forfeit his half of the earnings for the rest of the year if.the team.came to an agreement by Friday on his release, Eddie Wood said “It’s a nice gesture, but I’ve got to think about what’s best for our race team…and that’s.what I’ll do. To us it’s not about.the money. He’s in quite a hurry to get his stuff done, but he’s one person and I’ve got 50 employees. I want to make sure we get the right guy to replace him and it’s so early.I don’t want to do something just for the sake of having it done and the next day a situation that would work better comes up”.(PRN’s Garagepass Radio Show)(5-23-2002)
