When the winner of the Inside Traxx 300 BGN race at Nashville Superspeedway rolls into victory lane on Saturday, June 8, the most memorable reward – along with the prize money and glory – will be a Gibson Les Paul guitar designed by motorsports artist Sam Bass. The guitar is the second in a series of four Bass has designed for the 2002 Nashville race season. The first one went home with Scott Riggs after the April 13 Pepsi 300 BGN race – NASCAR president Mike Helton gratefully accepted a replica from the artist to commemorate the occasion. Guitars three and four will be awarded at the conclusions of the July 20 Firestone Indy 200 IRL race and the August 10 Federated Auto Parts 200 CTS event. Bass started with a beautiful Classic model six-string electric guitar, to which he applied a mural depicting the nighttime skyline of the city of Nashville being visited by a blazing, comet-like stock car.(Sam Bass PR)(6-6-2002)
