Fifty-two-year-old McLeod most recently worked as the team manager for the #66 Dodge of Casey Mears and is excited to be taking over the reins with Channellocks young driver, Kasey Kahne. McLeod, a native of Southington, CT, began his racing career in 1966, working as a crewmember for a Modified team. He advanced within the team, working with NASCAR drivers, Todd and Brett Bodine and Mike McLaughlin, winning the 1986 Modified Championship with McLaughlin behind the wheel. In his 25 years of Modified racing, McLeod accumulated over 50 wins. McLeod joined Frank Cici in 1991 as the crew chief for the #34 Chevy driven by Todd Bodine. While serving as Bodines crew chief, McLeod visited victory lane 10 times. He won two more races when Mike McLaughlin took over for Bodine. McLeod also had the opportunity to work with veteran drivers Tim Fedewa and David Green before moving into the team manager position for the #66 Dodge at the beginning of the 2002 season. McLeod will join Channellock atop the pit box this Friday, July 5 for his first race with the team, as Kasey Kahne makes his Superspeedway debut at Daytona International Speedway.(Global Performance PR)(7-1-2002)
