The Bill Davis Racing #23 Team and driver Scott Wimmer are taking a Tommy Baldwin Racing Dodge [ran as #6] to Daytona this weekend. It is the same car David Green sat on the outside pole with at the Daytona season opener and will have a Terry Elledge horsepower motor under the hood. “We are taking Tommy Baldwin’s car down to Daytona,” said Wimmer.. “I’m really excited because we didn’t run as strong as we wanted to in the spring.. Our aero package was a little bit off and now we are taking a car that is capable of winning.” Wimmer has two top-15 finishes in two starts at Daytona.(Bill Davis Racing PR) Wimmer has been racing a Pontiac and will run Dodge in Cup for up to seven races(see Cup site)(7-1-2002)
BUT: the team will still run in a limited number of BGN races for the rest of the season without a sponsor (unless one signs on)(Fox Sports Net – Totally NASCAR). The team will run a Dodge at Daytona in the BGN, not sure if they will continue that or stay with a Pontiac.(7-2-2002)
