#54-Kevin Grubb will miss his second consecutive BGN race this weekend, but Grubb said he has been cleared by NASCAR to compete after a round of medical tests. Grubb underwent a CT scan on Monday and an MRI at MCV Hospitals yesterday. “Everything’s clear,” he said. “I had the doctor in touch with NASCAR, and they’ve cleared me.” With his status uncertain until yesterday, Team Bristol Motorsports told Grubb to use the weekend to rest at home. Winston Cup veteran Jerry Nadeau will drive Grubb’s #54 Toys-R-Us Chevy in Saturday’s Little Trees 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. NASCAR modified its medical policy in the wake of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s revelation he had raced while suffering the effects of a concussion from an April 29 wreck. Drivers now are required to undergo testing if a track doctor suspects a concussion. Grubb said he didn’t realize the MRI was needed until a call from Denise Meeks, NASCAR’s medical liaison for the Busch series. Grubb spent much of last week recovering from flu, which left him feeling dizzy in his car during practice at Kansas Speedway on Sept. 27. After visiting the care center, Grubb, who crashed the previous week at Dover International Speedway, was told to skip the race and returned home. UPDATE: team owner Rich Goodwin confirmed that Kevin Grubb will return for the BGN race at Memphis Motorsports Park next week.
