Rumblings – Lowe’s: #40-Jamie McMurray becomes the 17th different winner this season….last year we had 19. And, he became the 45th different driver to lead a lap this season….last year we had 48. Bobby Labonte (2nd) had his best finish since he won at Martinsville in April. Jerry Nadeau (13th) had his best finish since he was 8th at Bristol in March. STREAKIN….Ryan Newman has 7 Top-10’s in a row. Tony Stewart has 5 Top-10’s in a row. This Week’s Elevator….UP: Operator of the week is Jerry Nadeau (+26), followed by Mike Wallace (+20). DOWN: The Big Dropper was Ricky Rudd (-29), followed by Matt Kenseth (-27), Bill Elliott (-26), and Ricky Craven (-20). This is the first time either Nadeau or Rudd have graced the “shaft” this year. #20-Tony Stewart padded his points lead today….he’s now 97 markers up on #48-Jimmie Johnson. We can now hang up our first “Magic Number” of the year (the position that Tony can finish and still win the Championship….no matter what that particular driver does), and it’s the minimum. In other words, if Tony finishes 6th every race, #2-Rusty Wallace can’t beat him. With Jimmie Johnson, its 2nd.(Stockcarfans Newsletter)(10-14-2002)
