#14-Rick Crawford won the Bud Pole Award at Phoenix International Raceway with a speed of 128.329mph, just beating #8-Bill Lester fpr the pole. Lester will start 2nd with a lap of 128.324. Coming into the second-to-last race of the season, Crawford trails points leader #16-Mike Bliss by 68 points. #6-Kevin Harvick was 3rd at 127.959 followed by #29-Terry Cook at 127.823 and #16-Mike Bliss at 127.705.
