West Virginia driver Richard Mitchell announced that he is leaving the Jack McNelly-owned Mac Hill Motorsports race team [see related story below]. Over the 2001/2002 seasons Mitchell campaigned Mac Hill cars on both the ARCA and BGN tours. “I will always be grateful to Jack (McNelly) for giving me an opportunity to run the superspeedways,” Mitchell said, “unfortunately the current economics involved in securing NASCAR sponsorship these days transposes friendship. >From a business perspective, Jack and I found it necessary to go in different directions.” Mitchell, a two-time NASCAR Northeast region Weekly Racing Series champion, is currently pursuing other BGN opportunities and hopes to make an announcement concerning his future by the end of the month. “We are talking with several different people, and feel we are close to putting a deal together, but that’s all I can say at this time,” Mitchell added.
