the Dick Trickle Fan Club newsletter is reporting that Dick Trickle was contacted by a Craftsmans Truck team, right before he departed for Daytona [to test and set up IROC cars], about the possibility of competing in the Daytona truck race. The team has limited sponsorship but has committed to the Daytona race. Trickle will be communicating with the team by phone, concerning their engine program, testing results, crew, etc. An actual decision may not be made until early next week, whether it by the team or Trickle.(Dick Trickle Fan Club Newsletter)(2-4-2003)
UPDATE: The Truck owner who had called Trickle right before he left for Daytona was Tony Branson who owns the #66 Truck (that Tina Gordon left). Their team had planned to go to Daytona but didnt have much sponsorship. Trickle didnt want to commit himself or anyone who might want to support him with some sponsorship, on that quick of a notice. Trickle would had liked to went to their race shop, looked over their equipment, met the crew, etc. Randy Renfro had offered to bring some sponsorship and will be the driver in this weekends race at Daytona. Trickle plans to stop by and meet everyone this weekend.(Dick Trickle Fan Club Newsletter)(2-12-2003)
