Kenseth wins at Madison:

Roy Kenseth’s voice cracked with emotion moments after his son, Matt Kenseth, won the Blain’s Farm and Fleet/Dewalt 100 Friday night at Madison International Speedway. “This is like winning a Cup race. I can’t explain it,” Roy Kenseth said of Matt’s victory in front of about 10,000 spectators at the one-half mile oval. Matt Kenseth, a Cambridge [WI] native and the Winston Cup Series points leader, led 83 laps and took home a $3,000 award. The victory was his 25th at the track and first in seven years. He started sixth in a car built by Kevin Laatsch of Janesville and took the lead from Sun Prairie’s Scott Ollerman on Lap 17. Kenseth’s main competition came from Ollerman and Dave Feiler, former MIS track champions, who had raced against Kenseth before at MIS. Kenseth returned to help MIS celebrate its grand re-opening. Roy Kenseth is the track promoter and Matt was more than happy to help his father pack the stands.( Capital Times )(5-11-2003)
