Richard Childress said he has no qualms about hiring Steve Park to replace Jeff Green: ‘Steve is a proven winner. We tried to pick him back when Dale (Earnhardt) was looking at him. We just want consistency from Steve. We told him, ‘Don’t go out there and put a bunch of pressure on yourself. Just race and have fun. If you do that, the rest will come. Don’t let the pressure get to you.” On the medical issue, Childress says ‘We’ve talked to the doctors and he’s in real good shape, his reflexes and everything are perfect. He’s already got a baseline (mental agility exam at Wake Forest’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine).
