Jarrett was able to drive his car off the track after the wreck while Labonte and Stewart could not. Jeff Hammond’s Answer: It’s very simple. Dale Jarrett took his car to the garage before he crossed the start/finish line so his lap did not count. If he had completed that lap and then turned in the garage area, he would have been counted ahead of Tony Stewart and Terry Labonte.
