Pruett wins at Sonoma….in Trans-Am:

Scott Pruett led from start to finish to capture the 100-mile Trans-Am race that followed the Winston Cup NASCAR race. Boris Said finished second. Said completed running in all three main races of the weekend by finishing in the top 10 of each. He earlier was sixth in the NASCAR Winston Cup race and was second in the NASCAR Southwest Tour race on Saturday. “When I got the Winston Cup pole, my head wasn’t really into my (Trans-Am) car,” Said said, “and I couldn’t do a good enough job setting it up.” Pruett said he was thrilled with his ride in the Trans-Am car but disappointed in his Winston Cup race in which he finished 34th in a #09-Target Dodge for the Chip Ganassi team. “We had a great race car, and I think Kurt (Busch) got us confused with Jimmy Spencer’s big red target from last year. A tangle with Busch sent Pruett to the pit in the Cup race after he had moved up as high as fourth. Busch had damage and finished 28th.( Oakland Tribune )(6-23-2003)
