UPDATE: The future, Skinner said, is still up in the air: ‘If I get in cars that aren’t part of big-name teams, without big-name sponsors, and I can help a smaller team make a race or two, that’s not going to hurt me. But if I get in a DEI car or a Richard Childress car or a Robert Yates car, and do bad, that will hurt me. I don’t think what I’m doing now is going to hurt me a bit. ‘I’m keeping my face around, and if something happens, I’m around to talk to.’ One of Skinner’s options is to return to the truck series. Michael Waltrip has been considering fielding a truck team next season, and Skinner could drive it. ‘Michael and I are good friends, and he said ‘If we were to get the right sponsor, you’d be the first guy I’d call,’ Skinner said. ‘But we haven’t got the sponsorship yet.
