NASCAR grants each manufacturer two test dates at the track of their choice, and Dodge chose to hit Bristol on Monday. The turcks testing included #1-Ted Musgrave, #4-Bobby Hamilton, #18-Chad Chaffin, #2-Jason Leffler, #8-Bill Lester and #62-Brendan Gaughan. Most drivers were turning laps in the high 15 second range in race trim Monday. Gaughan said his team is already surpassing Greg Biffle’s 1999 pole time of 15.880, or 120.831mph. He said he expects the pole times to be at least a half second faster than the best times that were turned before the series stopped coming to BMS after the 1999 season.(Kingsport Times-News)(8-12-2003)
