Mardy Lindley, who finished 16th in his Busch Series debut Aug. 2 at Indianapolis Raceway Park, could be running NASCAR’s No. 2 circuit again in October. Lindley said plans call for him to drive again for veteran NASCAR team owner Richard Childress in the Aaron’s 312 Oct. 25 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga. Lindley plans to attend a series of tests with RCR drivers through the rest of this year and also hopes to be in the pits with team members at several Busch races this season. He is among the drivers Childress is considering for full- or part-time Busch employment for next year. Childress team managers were impressed with Lindley’s run at IRP. He practiced and qualified well and was the first finisher after the lead-lap cars. He ran laps at the same speeds as the leaders over the closing 25 miles. Lindley, 30, said he plans to continue running in United Speed Alliance Racing Hooters ProCup events this year.(Greenville News)(8-17-2003)
