While many NASCAR fans are Gordon fans, Cindy Maxwell will be rooting this weekend for Robby, not Jeff. Maxwell, who was one of 10 finalists in a nation-wide contest who won a trip to todays Sharpie 500 in Bristol, Tenn., also won the grand prize in the contest, getting a stake in the race. After a drawing Friday, Maxwell learned “her car” in the race would by Robby Gordons #31 Chevrolet. Gordon will start the race in the 22nd position, but if he wins, Maxwell will take home $1 million. If Gordon finishes second through fifth, Maxwell will take home $150,000. In fact, if Gordon just finishes the race, Maxwell will get a nice consolation check of $10,000. Her father-in-law, Don Maxwell, said no matter how Robby Gordon finishes, his son and daughter-in-law are having a great time in Bristol and he has become a big Robby Gordon fan.( Abilene Reporter-News ) UPDATE it didn’t happen as Gordon had trouble all race and finished 35th.(8-23-2003)
