Tony Stewart’s appearances in the NASCAR Truck Series are few, but quite productive. Stewart, the reigning Winston Cup champion, won the Virginia is for Lovers 200 at Richmond International Raceway for the second consecutive season, this time holding off a fast-charging #59-Robert Pressley Thursday night by 0.426 seconds. The win is Stewart’s second series victory in three starts and his fifth NASCAR victory at Richmond. Three have come in Winston Cup. #1-Ted Musgrave finished third, #50-Jon Wood fourth and #46-Dennis Setzer completed the top five. #62-Brendan Gaughan took over the series points lead and now holds a five-point advantage over #16-Travis Kvapil. Since qualifying was rained out earlier in the day, the lineup was set according to the NASCAR rulebook. Stewart started 27th. Stewart made his way into the top 10 by Lap 70 of 200 and took the lead for the first time on Lap 104. Stewart fought side-by-side with Musgrave with less than 20 laps remaining, finally moving out front for good on Lap 185.(ThatsRacin.com)
