here is one I haven’t heard from a while, but being told Jeff Burton, driver of the #99 Citgo Ford and Roush Racing, could be headed to Richard Childress Racing in 2004 – however – it was announced just about a month ago that Burton had re-signed with Roush Racing a multi-year contract , so ??(10-1-2003) UPDATE: An Internet rumor this week linked Jeff Burton to Richard Childress Racing, but the South Boston native said he is staying put. “I just signed an extension of my contract and told everybody we signed,” Button said. “Now I’m going somewhere else to drive. I don’t know how [the rumors] get started. I do talk to Richard Childress. I don’t talk about driving his race car, but I have conversations with Richard Childress. I don’t think there’s anything wrong talking to car owners I respect. I guess people see that and get things going in their head.” Roush Racing is hunting for a company to sponsor Burton’s No. 99 Ford next year, and Burton said the search was going well.( Richmond Times Dispatch )(10-4-2003)
