Robert Huffman’s fifth-place finish in Friday night’s NASCAR Dash series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway – won by Justin Hobgood – clinched his fifth and final series championship. NASCAR is no longer sanctioning the series after this season and Huffman, who has so far driven Toyota’s only entry in a NASCAR series, will move to the Truck Series next season, where he will debut in one of Toyota’s Tundras. “To be involved in the Craftsman Truck series with Toyota is a lifelong dream. I want to be able to race for a living as long as I can race and Toyota has given me the opportunity to do that, recently in the Dash series and moving to Trucks,” said Huffman, of Claremont, NC. “It’s been fun for me to help Toyota get their program started and to see where it’s at now. It’s great. Toyota doesn’t owe me anything, but it’s great for me that they feel like they do.” Huffman declined to name the team he will drive for in 2004, but he is expected to be one of seven Toyota drivers running in the series next season.(ThatsRacin.com)(10-26-2003)
