#1-David Stremme has fought a long, uphill battle in 2003 while trying to overtake #18-Coy Gibbs for the lead in the Raybestos Brakes Rookie of the Year standings. Going into Phoenix, Stremme had made only 15 starts for car owner James Finch, as opposed to 31 for Gibbs.
