Starr could attempt Cup race at Texas again:

  • A 15-race trial this season in NASCAR’s Busch Series will become a full-time effort in 2005 for Texans David Starr and Michael Holigan. Driver Starr and owner Holigan, the former home builder from Plano, laid the groundwork for their start-up team Wednesday during the Texas Tour 2004 Media Day at Texas Motor Speedway. Though committed to a part-time Busch schedule, including an appearance at the O’Reilly 300 on April 3 at TMS, Starr said his No. 1 goal is to win the Craftsman Truck Series championship. Starr plans to compete in 40 races between the Busch and Truck series but could add a 41st. He and his uncle Mike, who runs the Team Texas Driving School at TMS, have discussed entering the Samsung/RadioShack 500 Nextel Cup race April 4 at TMS [Starr attempted last year in the #75 and didn’t make the race](Fort Worth Star Telegram)(1-29-2004)
