Several Nextel Cup teams had to make alterations to their Daytona 500 cars following Friday’s inspections. And several teams had parts confiscated by NASCAR inspectors. The Chevy of #15-Michael Waltrip and #5-Terry Labonte were among those requiring the most additional work before they were approved. The Chevy of #24-Jeff Gordon was the first car to receive its sticker indicating it passed inspection. Among the parts confiscated by NASCAR: the rear deck lid from Jeremy Mayfield’s #19-Dodge; right-side floor pans from Jimmy Spencer’s #7-Dodge; braces from Labonte’s Chevrolet; and the rear bumper support from the #97 Ford of Kurt Busch.(ThatsRacin.com)(2-7-2004)
