Terry Cook, driving ppc Racing’s first entry in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, won the pole for Friday night’s Florida Dodge Dealers 250 season opener at Daytona. Cook, 35, turned a lap Wednesday night at 183.643mph in his #10 Power Stroke Ford to claim the eighth pole of his career and first since August of last season at Indianapolis Raceway Park. #8-Chase Montgomery, a rookie who won last season’s ARCA race at Daytona, was a surprise as the second fastest qualifier in a Dodge. Last season’s series champion, #24-Travis Kvapil, was third and the top Toyota performer; #46-Dennis Setzer and #6-Matt Crafton in Chevrolets rounded out the top five. Toyota, the first foreign manufacturer to compete in NASCAR’s top series, made a respectable debut, as all seven entries qualified 17th or better after struggling in preseason testing.(ThatsRacin.com)
