While Jeff Burton has sponsorship through the Darlington event [Hot Wheels], Roush Racing president, Geoff Smith, is concerned that some might have the mistaken impression that the car no longer has sponsorship issues. “I hope that corporate America is not confused by sponsors that are appearing on Jeff Burton’s car,” Smith told TFR in Vegas. “But it ends at Darlington. The car will be white after that if we don’t have sponsorship.” Smith and his staff have pieced together sponsorships from Pennzoil for Vegas, SFK for Atlanta and the recently announced Hot Wheels deal for Darlington. “We’re actively looking,” Smith adds regarding the sponsorship search. “We’re working as hard as we can with a number of players who are trying to get involved in a very short timeframe.”(Ford Racing)(3-8-2004)
