Voting records continue to fall as more than 1 million votes have been cast this year for the Grands!ÃÂî Biscuits NMPA NASCAR Most Popular Driver Award. So far this season, fans have cast a total of 1,229,264 votes online at www.mostpopulardriver.com. This number is well ahead of the more than 700,000 votes cast at this point one year ago. More than 3 million votes have been cast in each of the past two years that Grands! Biscuits have sponsored the award, making it one of the most popular online fan-based awards in American sports. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. continues to lead the nationwide balloting, maintaining his first-place position since the start of the 2003 season. The son of a Most Popular Driver-winning father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., Earnhardt Jr. leads second-place Jeff Gordon. Kevin Harvick, Michael Waltrip and Tony Stewart round out the top five in current voting.
