Mike Bliss says he is unsure where he will end up next season, and has not yet given up hope of returning to the Joe Gibbs Racing Rockwell Automation Busch Series Chevrolet. Speaking on “Sirius Speedway” (MRN/Sirius Satellite Radio), Bliss told host Dave Moody that he has still not been told that he will not be back in the ride next season, only that he is free to look elsewhere. “J.D. Gibbs doesn’t know what he’s going to do (next year),” said Bliss. “I pushed the issue two months ago because I needed to know where I stood. They want to bring Denny Hamlin along eventually, but he may not have the experience to run Busch yet. I don’t know if it’s
possible for me to be back in the #20 next season or not. I don’t know for sure where they’re at. They could call me and ask me back, and if they do, I’d be excited. But I’ve also got a couple of other opportunities out there. I’m not necessarily going to take the first
thing that comes up. I’m going to take my time and let fate play its role.” If he is unable to land a quality ride in Nextel Cup, Busch or Trucks next season, Bliss said he already has two USAC SIlver Crown offers on the table, and would have no trouble going back to his roots in open wheel racing.(MRN/Sirius Satellite Radio)(10-19-2004)
