One of Arizona’s most popular chain retailers Bashas’ Supermarkets announced that it will serve as the title sponsor for the new NASCAR Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on April 22, 2005. The new agreement runs through 2008. Bashas’ Supermarkets is a well-known sponsor and promoter of PIR, where they have been the title sponsor of the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 for the past three years, including the 2004 featured event. In the past year, the Bashas family of stores has also sponsored Grand American Rolex Series races at PIR. In the last decade,
Bashas has doubled in size with stores under the Bashas name, as well as AJ’s Fine Foods, and Food City, bringing the total to more than 144 stores. The different formats enable the company to serve different “demographic neighborhoods” with the appropriate mixture of products and services to meet the needs of the customers. The new spring weekend features a NASCAR Grand National, West Series race, and the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 NASCAR Busch Series race on Friday and the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Saturday night.
