AND hearing that Jimmy Spencer will drive the #1 Mopar Dodge for Jim Smith in 2005. I had heard he would be in the #2 Dodge of Smith’s but supposedly some sort of sponsor conflict [NAPA vs. Carquest] squashed that.(1-6-2005)
UPDATE: Jimmy Spencer will pilot Ultra Motorsports #1 Dodge in the Craftsman Truck Series this season and also plans a partial Nextel Cup campaign, NASCAR.com reports. Ted Musgrave, who has driven the #1 truck for the past four years, will take over as driver of the team’s #2 Dodge. The story says Spencer, 47, expects to drive for Arnold Motorsports in a Nextel Cup schedule that will depend on sponsorship. He will run some Busch Series events for Michael Waltrip and hopes to field his own entry in others. Spencer says he may also have an unspecified television deal for the year. Also the #50 team will skip Speedweeks [Daytona] due to budget constraints.(NASCAR Scene Daily Newsletter)(1-6-2005)
