NASCAR is coming to the Palms in Las Vegas for a Celebrity Poker Tournament featuring 12 of the top NASCAR drivers. The $100,000 top award will benefit the winner’s favorite charity and Michael Waltrip’s Operation Marathon which provides support to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Tournament Director, Matt Savage will call the Texas Hold’em tournament beginning on Monday, January 31st at 7pm with 12 drivers being narrowed down to 6 drivers with the finals on Tuesday, February 1st beginning at 6pm. Featured in the tournament will be NASCAR drivers Michael Waltrip, Kyle Petty, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Elliott Sadler, Casey Mears and Dale Jarrett. no idea who the other two are]
“Operation Marathon, Going the Distance for Kids” is Michael Waltrip’s fundraising campaign to raise money for the operating expenses of the North Carolina based kid’s camp. Waltrip pledged to raise $1 million for the camp in July of 2004 and has raised over $700,000 to date. Guests are welcome to come out and watch the tournament, however there will be limited space.
