Mae Mecca, passed away this morning in her sleep at age 92. Visitation is Thursday at the Perna Funeral Home, 1306 Hertel Ave., Buffalo, N.Y., 14216 – (716) 874-1010. Funeral mass will be held Friday morning at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Buffalo. Her son Paul Mecca used to work on the Exide account for Geoff Bodine’s Cup team. In late ’94, Paul was hired in-house at Exide and he was named Director of Motorsports. He also worked with Jack Roush when the Exide sponsorship moved to Jeff Burton’s car. Paul worked as Director of Motorsports for Exide Batteries from 1994-2000, then started his own sports marketing agency.
