Jimmy Kite hopes to make history at TMS this weekend. Kite plans to become the first driver to compete in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and an IRL event at the same track on the same weekend. Kite will drive the #06 Royal Purple Chevrolet in the Chex 400 truck race Friday night, if he qualifies. The entry list has 37 drivers vying for 36 spots. Kite also is driving the #91 Ethanol Dallara/Toyota in the Bombardier Learjet 500 IRL race Saturday night. Kite is subbing for injured Paul Dana in the IRL car owned by Ron Hemelgarn. Kite is running a limited schedule in the truck series. “It’s pretty cool trying to do something no one ever has done before,” Kite said. “It’ll be an lot of work, but it should be a lot of fun, too. The schedule is pretty tight. I’m going to be busy in practice going between the garages.”(Dallas Morning News)(6-9-2005)
