FitzBradshaw Racing announced today that Sterling Marlin will assume driving responsibilities for the #12 Dodge Charger for the upcoming races at Gateway International Raceway and Michigan International Speedway. FitzBradshaw Racing Director of Competition Scott Eggleston will serve as crew chief. “After four years running the #12 car, we need to find the right combination to run competitively,” commented team co-owner Armando Fitz. “The Supercuts/HOT TAMALES Dodge has not had a top-10 finish all year. We can’t sit idle. We’ve got to do something.” Marlin will replace driver Tim Fedewa who has been behind the wheel of the #12 Dodge for just over two years. “I’ve been in the NASCAR Busch Series for a long time,” said Fedewa. “I’ve learned over the years that change is part of this business. I am proud to be associated with this series and to have had the opportunity to represent sponsors like Supercuts, HOT TAMALES and Goulds Pumps.” Director of Competition Scott Eggleston will serve as crew chief for Marlin and the #12 team. “This team has made a lot of progress over the past few weeks,” said Eggleston. “Marlin is coming on board to help us continue that progress. UPDATE: Joel Kauffman, current driver in the Hooters Pro Cup Series, has been spending time at the track with the #14 FitzBradshaw Racing team. Kauffman said on Saturday in Pikes Peak that he is talking to the team in hopes of a one to two year deal. If it comes through, the Kauffman signing would not be a part of the Ganassi development/placement program currently linked with FBR.(BGNRacing.com)(7-27-2005)
UPDATE 2: FitzBradshaw Racing announced that current USAR Hooters Pro Cup driver Joel Kauffman will make his NASCAR Busch Series debut driving the #12 Supercuts Dodge Charger at Indianapolis Raceway Park [IRP]. In 2002, at the age of 16, Kauffman won the Sunoco Super Series Championship at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
