Ramblings: Indianapolis:

Elliott Sadler was easily the fastest today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and he’ll lead us to the green tomorrow in the Allstate 400. His time of 48.882 (184.116 mph) was almost 3/10th’s of a second quicker than Jeremy Mayfield. Course, it would have been nice to see it live. For a race they spend so much time telling us is second in importance only to the Daytona 500 (and I’ll agree with that since they gutted the Southern 500), it seems like they could have found 2 1/2 hours in their busy schedule. Instead they use Cup qualifying as a lead in to help the Busch ratings. Maybe they thought it would be boring…..after all, we had a couple crashes, a few spins, Mr. Excitement managed to spin in onto pit road and really not hit either wall much (and that seems impossible), and the points leader couldn’t get through tech. Throw in all the go-home stories with the largest car count since February and seems like somebody out there in TV-land might have shown some interest, huh?
