#19-Jeremy Mayfield won the GFS Marketplace 400 at the Michigan International Speedway, taking the lead on lap 195 taking a gamble on fuel strategy. It is Mayfield’s first win of 2005 and 5th of his career. With 6 laps to go, #37-Tony Raines was leading until he ran out of gas, that would had been interesting. #10-Scott Riggs, expected to be named to drive the third Evernham Motorsports Dodge in 2006, had a career best, followed by #17-Matt Kenseth, #99-Carl Edwards and #20-Tony Stewart. Mayfield’s win helped move him into 6th in points, Stewart increased his points lead to 126 points. No driver changes in the top-ten points standings. #8-Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 18th and is now 154 points out of 10th with three races to go. #24-Jeff Gordon finished 15th and is now 12th in the drivers standings, 58 points behind 10th place. #20-Stewart and #48-Johnson have mathematically clinched a spot in The Chase. All drivers from 23rd on back in Drivers Points standings have been mathematically eliminated.
