#20-Tony Stewart won the Budweiser Pole for the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway with a lap of 131.143mph for his 2nd pole of 2005 and 9th of his career. #24-Jeff Gordon [1st race with new crew chief] starting 2nd, followed by #8-Dale Earnhardt Jr. [welcome back Tony Jr;], #17-Matt Kenseth and #10-Scott Riggs. The best qualifying Dodge was the #2 of Rusty Wallace at 7th. #7-Robby Gordon was the highest non top-35 team, who had to get in based on speed, qualifying 19th. Missing the race were: #00-Long, #89-Shepherd, #95-Barrett, #66-Garvey, #37-Raines and #27-Shelmerdine.
