It was Elliott Sadler’s day at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday as he took the Bud Pole for Sunday’s UAW-Ford 500 with a time of 50.597 sec. (189.260 mph). This is the third pole of the season for Sadler, and the fifth of his NEXTEL Cup career. Joining his teammate on the outside of the front row will be Dale Jarrett. What’s that you say? You thought Kevin Harvick was out there? Well, other than three (count ’em, THREE) small problems in the trunk area that NASCAR didn’t like he’d have been in that spot, but his time was disallowed and he’ll start 42nd. After the shock fiasco at Dover last week, the garage area is starting to have that “Angry Mob” look to it…..
This is DJ’s best starting spot since he had the pole at Daytona for the 500 in February.
Bobby Labonte (6th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 6th at Michigan in June.
STREAKIN…..Jimmie Johnson has 3 Top-10 starts in a row.
Ryan Newman has 3 Top-10 starts in the last 4 races.
A short Trouble Train today as we had 46 cars on hand. Bobby Hamilton Jr (for the second time this season) was a dnq along with Johnny Sauter and Morgan Shepherd.
I [SCF] still think a good “Chase” scenario would be to have 10 plate races for the Championship…..course the CCU would be full before race three! These guys won’t get much sleep this weekend.(Stock Car Fans)(9-30-2005)
