Ramblings – Texas:

Ryan Newman grabbed the Bud Pole today at Texas Motor Speedway for Sunday’s Dickies 500 with a speed of 192.947 mph (27.987 sec)….but he’ll start from the rear after he had a tire go down on lap two. Since he’ll be forced to a backup car, he’ll start 43rd and Matt Kenseth will inherit the top-spot. This is pole #8 for Newman on the season, his second in a row, and the 35th of his NEXTEL Cup career. He musta been real shook up by his wreck cause about an hour later he captured the pole for the Busch race, too.
Jeff Gordon (2nd) has his best starting spot since he had the outside pole at Loudon in September.
Joe Nemechek (4th) has his best starting spot since he had the pole at Michigan in August.
Jeremy Mayfield (5th) has his best starting spot since he had the outside pole at the Brickyard in August.
Mike Bliss (6th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 6th at Michigan in August.
Bill Elliott (9th) has his best starting spot since he qualified 3rd at California in September of 2004.
STREAKIN….Ryan Newman has 6 Top-10 starts in the last 7 races.
