On Thursday and Friday of last week, Mark McFarland and Dale Earnhardt Jr. received a crash-course in Navy basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Base located just north of Chicago, Ill. Rear Admiral Jeffrey Fowler and Senior Chief Jeff Priest accompanied the JR Motorsports crew around the base. Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the trip was McFarland’s attempt to pass the preliminary test that one must take just to qualify for the NAVY Seal program.(JR Motorsports PR)(1-31-2006)
