Comments by Bobby Hamilton Sr. on recent BHR reorganization: “Danny Rollins, who has worked with Bobby Hamilton Sr. en route to the 2004 NCTS championship and has since taken the reigns with Hamilton Jr. in the #18 Fastenal Dodge this season, came into the shop on Monday and made the decision to resign. After further review of this decision and several meetings to restructure key people we realized it will serve in the best interest of all involved. We had a ton of success at BHR with Danny Rollins as the crew chief and we won a championship together and we’re thankful for his efforts on BHR’s behalf. Unfortunately this sport moves very fast and things change as time goes by. You see successful organizations restructure all the time in this sport to keep up with the pace- Hendrick, Yates, Roush, you name it, they have all been through it and in most cases it works out for the best. I feel like that will certainly be the case here at BHR. I think these changes will have a very positive impact on this team. The bottom line is it is my job to strengthen the overall racing efforts for Dodge, Fastenal and all of BHR sponsors, and this one needs to come straight from the boss. The communication and the results were just not there with the combination of Danny and Bobby Hamilton Jr. All that being said we think that Kip McCord’s experience will take this team back to victory lane.”(truckseries.com)(7-3-2006)
UPDATE: Kip McCord will lead the #18 crew for Hamilton Jr. following the resignation of Danny Rollins. Marcus Richmond will lead the #4 team as Danny Gill relinquished those duties while continuing his role as team manager for Bobby Hamilton Racing. (scenedaily.com)(7-5-2006)
