It was Ryan Newman by an eyelash…. Newman grabbed his second Bud Pole of the season today at New Hamphshire International Speedway by .007 seconds over Jeff Burton for Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 300. The 37th top-spot of his career was accomplished with a lap of 29.370 sec (129.683 mph).
Kyle Busch (4th) has his best starting spot since he had the pole at Phoenix in April.
Reed Sorenson (9th) has his career-best starting spot this weekend. His previous best was 13th at Texas in April.
Tony Raines (15th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 12th at Martinsville in April.
Carl Edwards (17th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 7th at Darlington in May.
Kenny Wallace (19th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 17th at Phoenix last November.
STREAKIN….Jimmie Johnson has 5 Top-10 starts in the last 6 races.
There’s a pretty good chance we’ll see the winner come from inside the Top-10 starters this weekend. We’ve had 22 races here, with 18 former wins represented by drivers in this week’s field. Of those 18 victories, the drivers in the Top-10 have accounted for 15 of ’em (six of those on the front row!). Sounds like horses for courses…. (Stock Car Fans)(7-14-2006)
