Ramblings – Qualifying Notes:

Jeff Burton is certainly on a qualifying roll….. Burton continued his hot streak today at Michigan International Speedway as he took the Bud Pole for Sunday’s GFS Marketplace 400 with a time of 38.311 sec (187.936 mph). This is the third top-spot in the last six races for Burton, his 4th of the season (he’s tied with Kasey Kahne for most poles now), and the 6th of his Nextel Cup career. Elliott Sadler (2nd) gets off on the right foot with his new employer. This is his best starting spot since he had the pole at Talladega in April.
Matt Kenseth (3rd) has his best starting spot since he qualified 3rd at Texas last November.
Greg Biffle (6th) has his best starting spot since he grabbed the Bud Pole at Richmond in May.
Casey Mears (7th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 3rd at Richmond in May.
Sterling Marlin (10th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 9th at Talladega in April.
STREAKIN….Ryan Newman has 5 Top-10 starts in a row.
Jimmie Johnson has 6 Top-10 starts in the last 7 races.
Jeff Burton has 5 Top-10 starts in the last 6 races.
