Ward Burton supposedly has signed with one of the new Toyota teams which will be running full-time in the Nextel Cup Series in 2007, the three are Bill Davis Racing (very doubtful), Red Bull Racing (one spot open) and Michael Waltrip Racing (one spot open) are the three teams. Burton and the team supposedly plan to make their debut this season. The news site that had the story posted has pulled the story and requested it be removed, but I don’t do that as folks have already seen it. So it was re-writen here and may or may not be true…as Ward has said he back in July he at that point had not had any discussions with Toyota.(8-22-2006)
UPDATE: Ward Burton told PRN’s Garage Pass there is no truth to the story he’s got a deal done with any of the Toyota operations or any other Nextel Cup, Busch or Craftsman Truck Series team. Burton says he feels he can still get the job done on the track and is confident he’d do a great job for any sponsor.(PRN’s Garage Pass Radio Show)(8-22-2006)
