UPDATE: Kurt Busch and Joe Nemechek tested tires for Goodyear Tuesday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in preparation for the Oct. 14 Bank of America 500 and both believe the tire company has resolved an issue drivers and teams fought during the track’s May events. “The right-side tires are going to stay the same and they brought three different compounds for the left side,” Busch explained after climbing from the #2 Dodge. “They are trying to get more grip for the drivers and not go too far which means popping tires or blistering tires.” For the May races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, NASCAR required teams to use 13-gallon fuel cells, nine gallons smaller than those used at most tracks. NASCAR has not announced which fuel cell will be required for the Bank of America 500, but both teams tested using the smaller 13-gallon cell. “I see that being the fuel cell we’ll use when we race here,” Busch predicted. “That means more time on pit road which keeps things interesting and ‘Humpy’ (Wheeler, president of Lowe’s Motor Speedway) likes that.”(LMS PR)(8-29-2006)
