Rumblings – Atlanta:

Dale Earnhardt Jr stayed out….Tony Stewart came in and got four fresh ones, and it was pretty much over. Tony Stewart got by Little E with 11 to go tonight and went on to win the Bass Pro Shops 500 (I’d say he liked that trophy just a little, too!) at Atlanta Motor Speedway over Jimmie Johnson for his 4th win of the season and second in Hampton. Win #28 for Tony in his career moves him into a tie for 20th on the all-time win list with another Cup Champion….Rex White. This was the 53rd victory for Joe Gibbs Racing and it was worth $373,286 from the slightly over $6M in posted awards.
Robby Gordon (10th) had his best finish since he was 4th at Watkins Glen in August…..and let the roll-bar padding wars begin!
David Gilliland (15th) tied his career-best finish today. He was also 15th at Talladega last month.
STREAKIN….Carl Edwards has 5 Top-10’s in the last 6 races.
This Week’s Elevator…UP: The Operator of the Week is Joe Nemechek (+32), followed by Kyle Petty (+20). The bottom end of the “Shaft” is populated by nothin’ but Chasers this week.(Stock Car Fans)(10-29-2006)
