Ramblings – Las Vegas Qulaifying Notes:

Las Vegas Motor Speedway has new asphalt, new banking, and a new pit road…..and it’s baaaaad fast. And the baaaaadest, fastest of ’em all was Kasey Kahne. Kahne tooled around in a smooth 29.212 seconds (184.856 mph)….and you know every qualifier shattered the previous track record. Kahne’s 13th career pole put’s him into next February’s Budweiser Shootout….we’ve had three qualifers in three races, btw. The top four, six of the top-seven, and seven of the top-10 are Dodges this week. David Stremme (2nd) takes the outside pole, and it’s his career-best qualifying effort. His previous best was 3rd at Daytona last July. Juan Pablo Montoya (4th) has his career-best starting spot this weekend as well. His previous best was two weeks ago in Fontana when he started 9th. Reed Sorenson (7th) tied his career-best starting spot today….capping a good day for the Ganassi Dodges. He also started 7th at Dover last September. Sterling Marlin (8th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 7th at Talladega last October. Kenny Wallace (15th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 4th at Martinsville in October of 2003 Paul Menard (19th) has his career-best starting spot this weekend also. His previous best was 22nd at Atlanta in March of 2006. Welcome….Aric Almirola (31st) and Jon Wood (41st) both make their first Nextel Cup starts this weekend.
