Ryan Newman toured the Lowe’s Motor Speedway tonight in 29.140 seconds (185.312 mph) to take the Bud Pole for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, his second top-spot of the season (his other pole came at Atlanta in March)…his 6th at Lowe’s…and the 39th of his Nextel Cup career. He’ll be joined on the front row by his teammate Kurt Busch. This is his best starting spot since he had the pole at Martinsville last October. Elliott Sadler (3rd) has his best starting spot since lined up 3rd at Bristol in March. Dale Earnhardt Jr (4th) has his best starting spot since he qualified 4th at Phoenix last November. Dave Blaney (8th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 7th at Bristol in March. Bobby Labonte (9th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 6th at Atlanta in March. David Stremme (10th) has his best starting spot since he qualified 7th at Atlanta in March. Welcome Back Bill Elliott (22nd).
