Rusty Wallace is hopeful, but not certain. The former NASCAR star turned TV broadcaster and Iowa Speedway 10-percent owner rests most of his local aspirations on the Newton track’s June 24 Iowa Corn Indy 250 IndyCar Series race. But that’s not all. Wallace said in a Teleconference Wednesday that he believes the Craftsman Truck Series and Busch Series could be possibilities for Iowa Speedway’s future schedules. “We’ve talked to them,” said Wallace, a motorsports analyst for ABC and ESPN. “It’s in their hands now, but they do love everything they’ve seen about Iowa. All the drivers. In fact, I was listening to an interview this morning from Kevin Harvick, and (he) said, ‘(Iowa Speedway) was one of the nicest tracks I’ve ever drove my entire life.’ He said, ‘I highly recommend NASCAR gets a Busch or a Truck race there.'” Whether NASCAR agrees is unknown.(Des Moines Register)(6-13-2007)
