No #25 for Jr. at Hendrick UPDATE:

Q) Will The Owner Points For The #5 And #25 Stay In Place Where They Are In 2008? A) Rick Hendrick: “Yes, they’ll stay like they are. Casey will move over to the #5 car and that’s the only that will change there and the number will change on the #25.” Q) Do You Already Know What Number and Sponsor Dale Jr. will have and can you reveal it? A) Rick Hendrick: “It’s not going to be the #8. Nor the #25. And the sponsorship, hopefully in the next two weeks we’ll be able to announce that and the number at the same time. We hope that’s going to be probably something with the #8 [such as 81,58,82,38,28] in it but we really don’t even have that locked in right now. That’s a true story.”(GM Racing PR)(9-8-2007) UPDATE: Hendrick said he’d like to find a number that includes an 8 for Earnhardt, and the team has applied for trademarks on the 28, 38, 51, 58, 81 and 82.(Associated Press), the #28 is new, seems an odd choice…but. AND on Sunday’s LTN Hour radio show, Travis Kvapil, who was recently named to run the #88 Yates Racing Ford in 2008, said he didn’t know what number the car would be, so that could free up the #88 for Dale Earnhardt Jr.(9-10-2007)
