Clint Bowyer kicked off the Chase in style today…. Bowyer took the Bud Pole today at New Hampshire International Speedway for Sunday’s Sylvania 300 with a time of 29.206 (130.412 mph) for his second career top-spot and second of the season (he led ’em to the green at Darlington back in May). Martin Truex Jr (2nd) ties his career-best starting spot this week. He also had the outside pole at Chicagoland in July. Kevin Harvick (8th) has his best starting spot since he lined up 8th at Daytona in July. Paul Menard (17th) has his best starting spot since he timed in 16th at Chicagoland in July. DON’T LEAVE YET BORIS!!! John Andretti’s time was disallowed (they were too low in post-qual inspection) and Boris Said draws in at 43rd. STREAKIN….Jimmie Johnson has 7 Top-10 starts in a row. Ryan Newman has 4 Top-10 starts in a row. We had four sets of ties today (thanks to our buddy Dan Beaver for that heads-up)….and remember that a tie is broken by Owner Points. 6/7, 11/12, 27/28, and 40/41 were the spots. We had 49 cars take a time, and six got the early out. The Trouble Train included Dale Jarrett (his 10th dnq of the season), Sam Hornish Jr (his first attempt this season was futile), Jeremy Mayfield (their 16th dnq), Michael Waltrip (his 16th also), Kevin Lepage (that team’s 23rd), and John Andretti (that team’s 16th). The Chase starts this weekend so I hope your favorite is in it, or else he’ll be relegated to the world of the unknown and irrelevant. Unless of course he wins. Then he’ll get a small mention before we get the latest points rundown. Oh, and don’t get in the way either…..(Stock Car Fans)(9-14-2007)
